Pinterest

Have you started a Pinterest board?  I did and I lovey-love it!
In the past, if I saw a project, recipe or sewing tutorial online that I wanted to try, I bookmarked it.   Before long, I had a jumbled mess of bookmarked items taking up space on my navigation bar.

Now? All of those earmarked things are nicely displayed in one pretty place.  It’s like a virtual bulletin board, really.  Here’s mine.  I’m just getting started, but I have big plans.

As you can see, there are lots of skirts and dresses that I want to make this summer. You can follow your friends on Pinterest and see what’s inspiring them.  You can also see when others “pin” something from your own blog or website.  It’s easy – just type in the following:

http://pinterest.com/source/   and add your blog address.

The Monica Closet

I’ve got a secret.  A deep, dark secret that I can’t believe I am going to share.
Remember the episode of Friends where the total Type A, neat freak Monica is outed for her messy closet?

My name is Tina and I have a Monica closet.

This is the closet in our guest bedroom. 

Home to stuff that doesn’t have a home. 

A walk-in closet that you can’t walk in.

Anyone who knows me in real life would gasp to know that I have a space in my home that is so unorderly and cluttered.
We have visitors coming this weekend who will be staying in our guest bedroom.  So, what does a girl do when under pressure to clean out her Monica closet before guests arrive? 
She takes pictures and posts them on the internet, that’s what.  
It’s time to get this closet under control before someone mistakes me for a hoarder and notifies TLC.

Now this is the closet in our guest bedroom.

Everything has a home.

Jewelry Display

My jewelry box is usually a tangled mess of necklaces and bracelets.  I've seen so many cute jewelry display frames and I knew that I just had to make one.  So, I pulled out this shirt...

...that I wore while pregnant.

Here's a close up of the prettiness:

I got a 12x12 corkboard, centered the pretty design around the board and cut.  Then I stapled the fabric to the back of the board.

Next, I used a nail and hammer to make two holes for hanging. Here's the back.  I know it doesn't look great, but I'm okay with it.  If I were giving this as a gift, I would cover the ragged edges with ribbon.

Here's the front.  I then used a pair of scissors to cut holes in the shirt for hanging.

I added some ribbon for hanging.

And tied cute little knots to hold in place.

Next, I screwed little hooks through the shirt and corkboard.  I was loving this project so much that I forgot to take a picture of this step.

I found the perfect spot on the inside of my closet and hung it with a nail.  I added my jewelry and there ya have it.  Necklaces and bracelets organized and ready to wear!
